What's New in C++14

Wednesday Aug 20th 2014 by Developer.com Staff

The draft standard for the next version of the programming language has been approved.

IsoCPP.org, the website for the Standard C++ Foundation, has announced the approval of the C++14 standard. The update includes a number of tweaks; some of the most notable include improvements to the handling of thread-level and lock-free concurrency and the addition of support for lambdas.

According to the foundation, the C++14 updated marked "the fastest turnaround for a new standard in the history of C++." The language's creator Bjarne Stroustrup added, "People have been predicting its demise quite enthusiastically for more than 20, but it's still growing. Basically, nothing that can handle complexity runs as fast as C++."
