What's in Ice Cream Sandwich for Developers

Google has released the SDK for Android 4.0.

Following a high-profile launch event, Google has released the software development kit (SDK) for the latest version of its Android mobile operating system. Codenamed Ice Cream Sandwich, Android 4.0 includes 1219 total changes since from version 3.2. From a developer's perspective, the most significant of those changes include the following:

  • Unified API for Tablets and Phones
  • Social API
  • Android Beam NFC Technology
  • Accessibility
  • VPN client API
  • Calendar API
  • Visual Voicemail API
  • Peer to Peer WiFi
