The average software developer makes around $100,000 per year. Less than 10 percent make more than $200,000, but there are some who do. How do you become one of them?
A recent Hacker News post asked this question, and several commenters posted advice. Some noted that developers who work in finance regularly make more than $200,000, as do many developers who work for companies like Microsoft, Google and Facebook.
In addition, many contractors and consultants make more than $200,000 per year. After all, if you charge $100 per hour, which isn't that high for a consultant, you'll be over the $200,000 mark.
