JavaScript, TensorFlow, Microsoft Visual Studio Code and Kubernetes are very popular on the code sharing site.

Code hosting site GitHub has released its State of the Octoverse 2017 report, which details the most popular programming languages, development tools and open source projects on the site. Key takeaways include the following:

  • GitHub now has 24 million users and 67 million repositories.
  • JavaScript is the most popular language on GitHub by a large margin, followed by Python, Java, Ruby and PHP.
  • The TensorFlow machine learning library is the most-forked project, followed by Bootstrap.
  • The projects with the most contributors include Microsoft Visual Studio Code, Facebook React Native and Node.js.
  • Kubernetes was the most-discussed repository, by far.
