Swift Programming Language Reaches 1.0 Status

Apps written with Swift can now be submitted to Apple's App Store.

On Tuesday, Apple's developer blog announced that Swift 1.0 had reached "golden master" or GM status, meaning that it is ready for use in production. Swift is a programming language Apple developed as an alternative to Objective-C. The news means that mobile development firms can now submit apps written in Swift to the App Store.

Apple added, "You'll notice we’re using the word 'GM,' not 'final.' That’s because Swift will continue to advance with new features, improved performance, and refined syntax."
