SUSE Updates Container as a Service Offering

by Developer.com Staff

The cloud computing service is based on Kubernetes.

At its SUSECon event in Prague, Linux vendor SUSE debuted version 2 of its container as a service (CaaS) offering. Based on the Kubernetes open source container management software, SUSE CaaS 2 helps DevOps professionals orchestrate their use of containers on infrastructure as a service (IaaS) and platform as a service (PaaS) environments. Key improvements in the new release include Helm integration, enhanced security, improved performance and greater accessibility on leading public cloud computing platforms.

Al Gillen, IDC group vice president for software development and open source, noted, "Streamlining the deployment of application content packaged in containers has become a key focal point for the industry. Given its historical strength with infrastructure software, SUSE is well positioned to deliver consumable solutions for deploying and operating applications using containers in an agile environment."
