Developers look for good documentation and a clean startup process when evaluating software.

A new report from Evans Data reveals that enterprise application development teams aren't just creating software, they are also often involved in evaluating the software their companies purchase. The Evans Data Global Development Survey found that 93 percent of developers are sometimes involved in evaluating software, a task that typically takes between one and four hours.

"Developers are crucial to software use throughout an organization," said Janel Garvin, CEO of Evans Data. "They are looked up to as experts and often find themselves evaluating software for line of business units as well as their own tools and platforms."
