Report: iOS Dominates SMB Mobile Market

by Developer.com Staff

Windows device activations are rising sharply but are still a small group.

Hosted Exchange vendor Intermedia has published a new report on the business mobile market based on data from its own customers. Among the small and medium-sized businesses Intermedia serves, 76 percent of activated devices were Apple iOS smartphones and tablets. Android devices had a 22 percent share, while Windows and BlackBerry claimed about 1 percent each.

The good news for Windows is that its market share climbed 93 percent over the first ten months of this year. Still, it controls a very, very small portion of the SMB mobile market.

For mobile development firms making SMB apps, it appears that iOS may still be the best primary platform to target.
