Report: Android to Become Mobile Development Platform of Choice

Tuesday Jan 24th 2012 by Developer.com Staff

Most devs will write apps for more than one mobile OS.

A new report from research firm Ovum predicts that Android will become the most popular platform among mobile developers sometime in the next 12 months. However, the firm believes that most developers will write apps for multiple platforms.

Although Android has more users, iOS users spend more on apps. In the past, that has resulted in more developers creating apps for Apple's platform than for Android.

The report also found that mobile developers are increasingly abandoning Java, Flash and WAP in favor of HTML5.
