Oracle Releases Java 11

Thursday Sep 27th 2018 by Developer.com Staff

This is the second update to the open source programming language this year.

Java 11 has reached general availability status. The update is notable in part for what is missing, namely JavaFX (which is now a separate module), several translations (French, German, Italian, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish and Swedish), the deployment stack, auto-update features, JRE and Java Mission Control. The release also adds some new features including support for Unicode 10, a new collection method and a new command line flag.

Java 11 is a long-term support (LTS) release, so Oracle plans to maintain it until at least 2026.
