Microsoft Open Sources WCF

The company continues to release pieces of .NET under open source licenses.

As part of its effort to open source the .NET development framework, Microsoft has announced the release of Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) under an open source license. WCF supports one-way and two-way communication over HTTP and TCP.

InfoQ notes, "WCF has a mixed reputation. While very easy to get started with, the learning curve has proven to be incredibly steep."

WCF now has a repository on GitHub, and interested developers can contribute to the project.
