Microsoft Compares iOS and Windows 8 Development

A new case study highlights the similarities and differences between the two mobile development platforms.

Microsoft has published a new case study which aims to "help designers and developers who are familiar with iOS to reimagine their apps using Metro style design principles. We show you how to translate common user interface and experience patterns found in iPad apps to Windows 8 Metro style apps."

One of the key differences between the iPad apps and Metro apps centers on the idea of "contracts," agreements that encourage separate apps to work together on Windows 8. Types of Windows 8 contracts include app-to-app picking, play to, search, settings and share.
