As part of its ongoing push to unify its platforms, Microsoft has announced that it is combining its Windows and Windows Phone developer programs. If you were previously part of the desktop and server development program, you can now also submit apps for the mobile development platform and vice versa. If you already paid to participate in both programs, Microsoft will give you another year for free.

At the same time, Microsoft also announced that it is reducing the price of its developer program. Individuals will now pay $19; companies, $99.
