Microsoft Buys SyntaxTree

SyntaxTree makes a Visual Studio plug-in for game developers who use the Unity engine.

Microsoft has announced that it has purchased development tool vendor SyntaxTree for an undisclosed sum. SyntaxTree is best known as the maker of UnityVS, a cross-platform Visual Studio plug-in for game developers who use Unity to write and debug code. Microsoft plans to make UnityVS available for free.

Recently, Microsoft has purchased several smaller firms that offer cross-platform and mobile development tools. Ars Technica writes, " With these purchases, integrations, and collaborations, Microsoft is making Visual Studio the development platform for mobile and multi-platform developers."
