Mark Zuckerberg and John Doerr are each chipping in half a million dollars.

The Hour of Code project to teach programming skills to students around the world is currently running a fundraising program on IndieGogo, and the group just announced several big donations. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan are donating $500,000 to the effort, as are venture capitalist John Doerr and his wife Ann.

The Hour of Code hopes to raise $5 million before December 14. With that money, the group plans to train 10,000 teachers. At the time of writing, the effort had raised a little over $2.3 million.
