However, Android 2.3 Gingerbread still has a large number of users.

Google has released a new set of statistics on Android fragmentation, and for the first time ever, more than half of Android users, 52.1 percent, are running versions 4.1 through 4.3, codenamed Jelly Bean. Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich now accounts for just 19.7 devices, but Android 2.3 Gingerbread, which is three and a half years old, is on 26.3 percent of devices. Android 2.2 Froyo has just a 1.7 percent share of the pie, and older versions of the OS have even fewer users.

However, the fragmentation may soon get worse again, as Google is prepping for the release of Android 4.4 KitKat.
