The tool supports native, cross-platform rapid development.

Google has released a beta version of Flutter, a cross-platform mobile development tool that it announced last year. Flutter supports rapid development and compiles to native code. It also integrates with many other mobile development tools.

"Flutter targets the sweet spot of mobile development: performance and platform integrations of native mobile, with high-velocity development and multi-platform reach of portable UI toolkits," said Seth Ladd, product manager for Flutter at Google.

The company said that developers have already created more than 1,000 apps with the alpha version of Flutter.
