GitLab Adds Push Mirroring to Open Source Edition

An update to the popular version control software also has security and automation improvements.

GitLab has released version 10.8 of its code repository software, and in response to customer demand, it has made push mirroring an open source feature. In the past, push mirroring was only available with the paid version of the software, not with GitLab Core.

The company explained, "Repository mirroring allows you to replicate Git repositories from one location to another. This makes it easier to work with multiple GitLab instances, like mirroring your team’s work to a customer’s private GitLab instance. Push mirroring also makes it easier to move a project to GitLab from elsewhere, without disruption, by keeping the old repository up to date."

The update also has release automation updates, a new incremental rollout feature, interactive security reports and bug fixes.
