Microsoft will give devs access to its new programming tools the same day it makes Windows 8 available.

Microsoft says that it has finalized the code for Visual Studio 2012 and .NET 4.5. Developers who subscribe to MSDN or TechNet can begin downloading the application development tools August 15, the same day they can download Windows 8. Non-subscribers will have to wait until September 12.

Visual Studio 2012 will include a number of new features related to the Windows 8 Metro interface, including new templates, upgraded XAML and Blend designers, an Animation library, PowerPoint Storyboarding, and a DLL project template for C++. It will come in three paid versions--Ultimate, Premium and Professional--as well as the free Express version.
