by Developer.com Staff

The interface is getting a little bit easier to use.

The standard command prompt shell in Windows has long lagged behind other platforms. But Microsoft is making some changes in Windows 10 that should please developers, systems administrators and others who regularly use the command prompt. They include the following:

  • Support for wider window sizes
  • Word wrap
  • Better clipboard support
  • Transparent windows
  • Improved keyboard shortcuts
  • Tab filtering

At the Windows Developer Feedback site, users have requested that Microsoft add several other command line features, including a tabbed interface, SSH support, Bash-style autocomplete, ANSI colors and compatibility with popular UNIX tools.
