Nokia Selects MeeGo Linux Rather than Symbian for its N-series Smartphones

by Developer.com Staff

Nokia's selection of MeeGo over Symbian for their N-series smartphones is another sign that Symbian is not the operating system for the future.

Nokia confirmed this week that the company has chosen MeeGo over Symbian to run on their N-series smartphones.

While Nokia has worked to make Symbian relevant in today's smartphone marketplace, it hasn't caught on.

Ars Technica's Ryan Paul reported that Nokia will continue to use their open source Symbian on it's low-end mass-marketed phones, for it's flagship N-series smartphones, open source MeeGo is their operating system of choice.
