Ruby on Rails developers announced today that the first beta of open source Rails 3 is now available for testing.
"It's surely not perfect yet, but we were out of blockers on the list, so here we go," writes Rails founder David Heinemeier Hansson. "Please give it a run around the block, try to update some old applications, try to start some new ones, and report back all the issues you find."
According to Hannson's announcement, more than 250 people worked on this release - making more than 4,000 commits since version 2.3.
Hannson said that "the new version feels lighter, more agile, and easier to understand. Its a great day to be a Rails developer."
