Open Source Application Brings Flash to the iPhone

by Developer.com Staff

Despite the lack of interest from Apple or Adobe in making Flash work on the iPhone, it's now possible.Using Javascript, developer Tobias Schneider built an application called "Gordon." It's still rather experimental, but it does work with SWF 1.0 Flash files. There are several demos available on Schneider's Web site and since Gordon is open source so is the source code.According to APCMag.com is using the iPhone's built-in Scalable Vector Graphics support. SVG is the open source competitor to Flash.Apple CEO Steve Jobs has said Flash is too slow on the iPhone, and according to APCmag.com, running Flash could takeaway some of the interest from developers to build iPhone "apps."
