What does the Facebook update to the Open Graph mean for developers?

At Facebook's F8 Developer Conference, the social networking giant unveiled a big change that will impact developers: the Open Graph. The Open Graph is Facebook's attempt to integrate thousands of apps more tightly into the Facebook interface, making the entire Web more social.

"The Open Graph came from the idea that there's no way that Facebook is ever going to build all these services ourself," CEO Mark Zuckerberg told Wired. "So therefore we should enable an ecosystem of developers to build great experiences."
