Amazon Revamps Alexa Skills Developer Console

by Developer.com Staff

The cloud computing giant is making it easier to create skills for its smart speakers.

Amazon has completely redesigned the Alexa Skills Developer Console, the toolset developers can use to create voice apps (which Amazon calls "skills") for the company's line of smart speakers. The console now has separate areas to build, test, launch and measure skills, and it has a new color scheme and more appealing interface.

“We’re constantly introducing new features for developers to enhance skill building and management, and one piece of feedback we received from developers was for a simplification of the workflow,” said Amazon’s Paul Cutsinger, head of Alexa Voice Design Education. “We took developer feedback and used it to improve the site structure and information architecture.”

Several third-party firms had recently unveiled development tools aimed at simplifying the creation of Alexa skills.
