Amazon has announced plans for a series of developer training events focusing on how to build apps for its Alexa platform. The Alexa Dev Days will include events in Chicago, Dallas, Boston, L.A., San Francisco, New York City, Atlanta, Austin, Miami, London, Berlin, Munich, Frankfurt, Manchester, Dublin and many other cities.
The cloud computing giant promises developers a “hands-on, immersive learning opportunity” that includes labs and skill-building exercises. “At Amazon, we believe that natural user interfaces, like those based on speech, represent the next major disruption in computing,” said Steve Rabuchin, vice president of Alexa. “These events will give you hands-on learning opportunities from Amazon trainers and experts. You’ll hear from some of our leaders, and will come away with a prototype Alexa skill or device.”
Currently, Amazon Alexa has more than 15,000 apps. By comparison, Google Home has 378 voice apps.
