The company has also published some mobile development tools to aid in the submission process.

On Wednesday, Amazon announced that it would begin accepting HTML5 apps and Kindle-friendly Web apps into its Appstore for Android. At the same time, it released several development tools, including best practices, a Web App Tester and the Amazon In-App Purchasing API for JavaScript. All the tools can be found on the Web App Resources Overview page.

As part of the announcement, Amazon emphasized that because Kindle's Web runtime is based on Chromium, HTML5 apps run about as fast as native apps.
