The company is also updating modern.IE.

As part of its efforts to ensure that all websites will work with Internet Explorer, Microsoft has announced a new program for Mac-based Web developers and an update for its modern.IE tools. The new program aims to make it easier for Mac developers to create cross-platform websites by providing them with a low-cost Windows QuickStart Kit. To obtain the kit, Web developers can make a donation of $25 to Watsi.org, Kahn Academy or Code.org, plus $8 for shipping and handling. In return, they'll receive a USB drive that contains a copy of Windows 8 Pro and Parallels Desktop 8 for Mac. Supplies are limited.

Modern.IE is a Microsoft service that scans websites to determine whether they'll be compatible with current and previous versions of Internet Explorer. Microsoft has now updated the service with Parallels for Mac images, an easier virtual machines installation process, Node.js support, improved fix suggestions and several additional languages.
