Last spring, Google Play began a beta testing program called Early Access which allowed users to try out early versions of 29 apps. Until now, Early Access featured only apps hand-picked by the Google team, but the company has announced that it is now opening up the program to anyone. Any mobile development firm can submit its app for consideration for Early Access. Google will still pick the apps that are included, but the titles available will be updated weekly.
Inclusion in the Early Access program could be a big win for developers. In the first month of the program, the apps that participated were downloaded more than a million times.
