Can You Adopt Agile Alone?

A growing number of individuals are applying agile software development methodologies to their work.

Agile software development is undeniably designed for teams. But what about cases where the whole team isn't going agile, but an individual wants to apply some agile principles?

Several bloggers have commented on their own efforts to apply agile on an individual basis. Fiona Hanington writes that she started dividing her work into small tasks, using a personal task board, and applying Kanban and other techniques even though she works on a team that uses a traditional waterfall approach.

Similarly, Phil Johnson says solo agile users can hold their own "standups," communicate frequently with their clients and conduct sprints.
