GitHub has announced that it is turning Atom, its open source code editor, into a full-fledged integrated development environment (IDE). The new project will be called Atom-IDE.
According to the project website, the new IDE will “get smarter context-aware auto-completion, code navigation features such as an outline view, go to definition and find all references, as well as hover-to-reveal information, diagnostics (errors and warnings) and document formatting.”
The interface for Atom-IDE arose out of a collaboration with Facebook developers who worked on the Nuclide project. Nuclide is an Atom-based code editor with some IDE features.
